It’s time for a break –

“Reading after a certain age diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking, just as the man who spends too much time in the theater is tempted to be content with living vicariously instead of living his own life.”
– Albert Einstein

“He who should inspire and lead…must be defended from travelling with the souls of other men, from living, breathing, reading, and writing in the daily, time-worn yoke of their opinions.”
– Emerson

Fifteen on Friday began unintentionally, 12 years and 530 curations ago. It has had different evolutions over that time, but consistently was a great way to share what I was learning and keep in touch.  I have wrestled over the past 6 months or so about its future.

Ironically, the quotes above surfaced and have struck a chord. I may have published my first book in early 2021, but I did not consider myself an author at the time. That book was a bucket list goal. Since then, the discipline and love of sitting, thinking and writing continues to grow. So much so that it is now a daily practice. While reading has a time and place, my own writing takes my attention and affection.

So, it’s time to press pause on Fifteen on Friday.

I am deeply grateful to all of you readers who have been gracious to offer words of support and share with your friends over the years.

Most of you should be receiving my weekly newsletter, Aspirations of Excellence.  If not, let me know and I’ll add you to the mailing list.
